Court appearance over fatal stabbing at Cavan housing estate

Emmet Connolly, from Co Monaghan, was stabbed to death in Cootehill in the early hours of Sunday.

A MAN IS due before court in Dublin this afternoon charged in connection with a fatal stabbing in Cootehill, Co Cavan, at the weekend.

Emmet Connolly, from Dartry, Rockcorry in Monaghan, was stabbed to death at a house in the Lodge View estate in the early hours of Sunday.

Gardaí arrived at around 1.05am, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The area was then sealed off as forensic tests took place.

A 29-year-old was arrested yesterday and taken for questioning to Baileboro Garda Station.

He’s due to appear before Dublin District Court at the Courts of Criminal Justice on Parkgate Street at midday.
