Teenager arrested in connection with stabbing and robbery of man in central Dublin this morning

A MALE TEENAGER has been arrested by gardaí in connection with a serious assault on a man early this morning.

The man, aged in his early 30s, was set upon by a number of youths at about 3.30am at Crane Lane in Dublin 2.

Crane Lane connects Dame Street and Temple Bar. It is situated a short walk from Dublin Castle.

The youths stabbed the man and stole his phone.

A nearby taxi driver came to the man’s aid and took him to St James’s Hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.

Those injuries are not life-threatening.

The young people responsible for the attack were seen and a description was circulated to gardaí, who made the arrest a short time later.

The man’s phone was also recovered, while the scene of the incident was preserved for forensic examination.

The arrested teenager is being held at Pearse Street Garda Station.
