Stolen cars and cannabis worth €125,000 seized at Dublin growing facility

Gardaí have arrested two men and seized cannabis with a street value of approximately €125,000 following an operation in Ballycoolin.

TWO MEN HAVE been arrested following the discovery of a cannabis growing facility in Ballycoolin, Dublin 15.

A number of stolen vehicles were also uncovered following the search of a business premises in Ballycoolin Industrial Estate.

The operation began yesterday afternoon when Gardaí intercepted a van at Centrepoint Business Park, Rosemount Business Park, Ballycoolin, Dublin.15. Two men, one in his 30s and one in his 60s, were arrested.

Both have been detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Gardaí carried out a search under warrant at a Unit of Centrepoint Business Park, resulting in the recovery of the Hyundai Santa Fe and a VW Jetta believed to have been stolen in Navan on 18 April 2013. Three other cars, a motorcycle and numerous other vehicle parts were also discovered.

In the upstairs of the premises Gardaí discovered a cannabis grow house, with 95 potted cannabis plants, a 7kg bag of suspected cannabis leaf, as well growing, lighting and housing equipment. The estimated street value is believed to be in the region of €125,000.

The operation is ongoing and the area remains sealed off for a forensic technical examination.
