It may be the first day of summer - but it won't feel like it

Here comes the…rain.

AS TONIGHT BECOMES tomorrow morning, the summer solstice will occur, with today marking the first day of summer (astronomically speaking).

However, it won’t feel exactly like that for much of the country.

Met Éireann says that today will start out cloudy with outbreaks of rain in southern Munster and Leinster early this morning and showers further north. While the day will brighten up with sunny spells.

Temperatures will reach 13 to 19 degrees Celsius.

The rest of the week will remain largely the same, with showery rain and sunny spells mixing until at least Sunday.
