Dangerous driving conditions this morning as snow-ice warning remains in place

Some showers will fall as snow this morning, but they will mostly be of rain, hail and sleet during the day.

A WEATHER WARNING for snow-ice remains in place across the country this morning.

Drivers are being warned that dangerous driving conditions can be expected as road temperatures are likely to be close to freezing or below.

Met Éireann has forecast that showers of snow are expected this morning with accumulations of 1 to 3 centimetres likely.

However, it will be a bright day in most areas with sunny spells and showers. Some of the showers will fall as snow in the early morning, but they will mostly be of rain, hail and sleet during the day.

Some will be heavy with isolated thunderstorms, especially in the west and northwest. Maximum temperatures today will be just 4 to 8 Celsius.

Tonight there is a risk of more persistent rain and sleet. Fog will develop, dense in places, with a risk of freezing fog and minimum temperatures minus 4 Celsius.
