Poll: Should a baby's genetic mother appear on their birth cert after surrogacy?

The Supreme Court rules this week that only the birth mother’s name can appear. Do you agree?

THE SUPREME COURT ruled yesterday in a high profile case that only the birth mother of twins can appear as their legal mother.

The case had been brought by their genetic mother, whose sister gave birth to the babies as a surrogate. Chief Justice Susan Denham has said this is a matter for lawmakers and Leo Varadkar has promised legislation.

We want to know what you think: Should a baby’s genetic mother appear on their birth cert in the case of surrogacy?

Poll Results:

Yes, only the genetic mother (2704)
Both names should appear (2644)
No, not at all (855)
I'm not sure (406)
