Irishman hospitalised after he's found near his wife's dead body in Switzerland

The woman died violently and was lying in blood.

AN IRISHMAN HAS been hospitalised after he was found in his home alongside the dead body of his wife in Switzerland.

Swiss police say the woman died violently and was found by a workman at an apartment in the town of Lutry.

The worker had arrived to carry out work on the first floor apartment on Monday and discovered the lifeless body of the woman lying in blood.

Police were notified and upon arriving at the apartment found the body of the 46-year-old woman.

Her husband, a 49-year-old Irishman, was also found in the apartment and police say he had injuries that required him to be hospitalised.

His injuries are not life threatening according to regional police in the Canton of Vaud.

Police say the woman died a violent death but that the circumstances of the death have not yet been established.

The Irishman has not yet formally spoken to police.

Local news outlets say the man hasn’t spoken to police because his condition meant that he was unable to.
