66-year-old woman killed, daughter injured in Tallaght shotgun attack

It happened at a house in Killinarden Estate. The gunman was still at the scene when gardaí arrived.

A 66-YEAR-OLD WOMAN has been been killed following a shooting in the Killinarden area of Tallaght this afternoon. A man in his 50s has been arrested.

Gardaí say the woman died at the scene following the attack, which happened at a house in Killinarden Estate at 4pm this afternoon.

Another woman, aged in her 20s and believed to be the victim’s daughter, is being treated for gunshot injuries in Tallaght Hospital. Her injuries aren’t life-threatening.

The gunman, aged in his 50s and understood to be a neighbour of the women, was arrested at the scene. Gardaí also recovered a shotgun.

He’s being treated for non life-threatening injuries at St. James’s Hospital, where he is currently under guard. He’s being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.

The scene has been sealed-off as forensic investigations get under way, and the Office of the State Pathologist has been notified.
