Man due in court over shotgun murder of 66-year-old woman

A MAN ARRESTED at the scene in the aftermath of yesterday’s horrific gun attack at a Tallaght housing estate is due in court tomorrow on murder and attempted murder charges, gardaí have confirmed.

66-year-old Mary Dargan was shot dead in the attack at the Killinarden Estate. Her 27-year-old daughter was also injured.

Gardaí also recovered a shotgun at the scene.

The man, who is aged in his 50s, is due before Dublin District Court at the CCJ complex on Parkgate Street tomorrow morning at 10.30am.

The 27-year-old woman was admitted for treatment to Tallaght Hospital yesterday. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The man, who was also injured, has been receiving treatment under guard at St. James’s Hospital. He’s being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.

The attack happened at around 4pm yesterday afternoon. Initial forensic examinations of the scene were carried out yesterday evening.
