Enda Kenny discussed Ireland’s attempts at economic recovery with the German Chancellor outside Berlin last night.

TAOISEACH ENDA KENNY met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel outside Berlin last night to discuss Ireland’s progress on meeting the terms of the bailout and its economic recovery.

The Taoiseach also met with the prime ministers of Latvia and the Czech Republic in what was described by the government as a ‘positive, open engagement’.

Kenny is also due to meet with Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti in Rome this morning. The meeting will be the first time the two leaders have officially held talks since Monti took office 100 days ago.

The meeting will focus on the ongoing crisis in the eurozone, growth and jobs, and the single market.

The leaders of all 27 EU countries are due to meet next week at a summit in Brussels.
