Taoiseach to meet Obama in Oval Office

Enda Kenny will meet the US President at the White House and attend a belated St Patrick’s Day lunch on Capitol Hill today, before flying back to Ireland on Wednesday.

THE TAOISEACH ENDA Kenny will take part in a bilateral meeting with US President Barack Obama in the White House’s Oval Office today.

Kenny will also attend a breakfast hosted by US vice president Joe Biden in his official residence, and attend a belated Patrick’s Day lunch on Capitol Hill hosted by the Speaker of the House of Representatives Republican politician John Boehner.

After meetings on Capitol Hill, he will attend the White House Patrick’s Day reception in the evening.

The Taoiseach spent Patrick’s Day in Chicago, where he met with mayor and former chief of staff in the White House Rahm Emanuel and walked the route of the parade in the city.

Yesterday, Kenny rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Wall Street this morning as part of his five-day trip to the United States.

He is due to fly back to Ireland tomorrow.
