Taoiseach's mother Eithne Kenny dies

Enda Kenny’s mother had celebrated her 93rd birthday earlier this year.

THE GOVERNMENT HAS announced that Eithne Kenny, mother of Taoiseach Enda Kenny, has died. She was 93.

Mrs Kenny, nee McGinley, celebrated her 93rd birthday in February prior to her son becoming Taoiseach.

She was formerly a home economics teacher.

Born in Glencolmcille, Co Donegal and Mrs Kenny was married to Henry Kenny, a former TD for Mayo West who was succeeded by his son, Enda, in 1975 following his death.

Mrs Kenny is survived by her five children, four sons John, Henry, Enda, Kieran and a daughter Marie Hastings.

The government says that funeral arrangements will be released when finalised.
