Taylor Swift donates $250k to help Kesha's 'financial needs'

A judge refused to end the singer’s six-album contract with Sony.

Last week, Kesha broke down in court when she was told the six-album contract will remain in place.

Fans have been tweeting support for the singer using the hashtag #FreeKesha.

In October 2014, she sued her producer Luke Gottwald – better known as Dr Luke, claiming he had drugged, sexually abused and psychologically tormented her. He denies the claims.

A spokesperson for Swift told Billboard the musician made the donation “to help with any of [Kesha's] financial needs during this trying time”.

Kesha’s mother also confirmed the news on Twitter.

Swift is the latest celebrity to make a public declaration of support since the judge’s decision last Friday.
