Team Gavin Glynn appeal raises €300,000 in days as sick child flies to America

Four year old Gavin Glynn was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer when he was 17 months.

AN APPEAL FOR donations to help a sick four-year-old receive life-saving cancer treatment has raised €300,000 in just days.

Gavin Glynn from County Wicklow was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer when he was 17 months old.

The only treatment available to him is in Texas as his family were recently told that there are no more treatment options in Ireland.

The pioneering procedure is costly and his family launched an appeal asking people to donate €4 by texting “Gavin” to 50300, an appeal that has seen a massive €300,000 raised since last week.

That puts the family just €50,000 shy of their goal as they head off to America.

In a post on the appeal’s Facebook page overnight, Gavin’s Dad John thanked all who had supported the appeal.

“The ‪#‎myboy‬ campaign has now reached just over €300,000.

“This is just the most amazing news we could have received before our flight tomorrow. We still need to reach the €350,000 so please keep sharing and text GAVIN to 50300 to donate €4.

“Thank you everyone for helping and supporting us to get Gavin to Texas. We will do this….Gavin has the strength of the nation and the whole world behind him now and he will fight the biggest and hardest battle of his whole life and HE WILL WIN….”
