Teen (16) charged over serious assault in Dublin

He was arrested yesterday morning.

A TEENAGER ARRESTED yesterday in connection with a serious assault in Dame Lane on 2 May has been charged.

Gardaí charged the juvenile in connection with the investigation into a serious assault that occurred at the junction of Dame Lane and Trinity Street, Dublin 2 on the above date.

He is due to appear before the Children’s Court in Smithfield this morning.

Gardaí said that the altercation occurred between 1.01am and 1.10am at the junction of Dame Lane and Trinity Street. A man received serious injuries to his face in the incident and was taken to St James’s Hospital for treatment.

Investigating gardaí in Pearse Street arrested a 16-year-old male yesterday morning. He was detained at Pearse Street Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, and remains in Garda custody.

Gardaí in Pearse Street are appealing for witnesses to the incident.

In particular they are looking for a number of people who approached the ambulance as the injured male was receiving treatment to contact them.
