Temperatures to reach 30°C today...but Friday will be hotter

IT WOULD BE a great little country if only you could roof her.

One of Ireland’s most popular ‘sayings’ has become redundant this week as the unexpected heatwave continues.

Met Éireann has already issued a ‘yellow’ weather warning to tell the public that temperatures will exceed 27°C every day this week. However, there are suggestions today the alert could be heightened to an ‘orange’ grade as thermometers hit 30°C.

Orange level weather warnings are for weather conditions which have the capacity to impact significantly on people in the affected areas.

According to the agency, if it is issued, there is an implication that that all recipients in the affected areas should prepare themselves in an appropriate way for the anticipated conditions.

Tomorrow’s forecast is identical to today’s – temperatures of up to 30°C and clear conditions in most spots.

Friday, however, is due to be the warmest day of the year.

The end is coming though. Cooler weather is expected on Saturday as Met Éireann says “this exceptionally warm, sunny period comes to an end”. The forecasters predict a weak cold front will move down over Ireland on Saturday introducing a fresher, less humid air mass. There could even be some isolated showers.

But let’s not think about that. We still have a few more days of 99s, beach walks and water fights to live through…
