Schoolgirl (11) who died after incident at UK theme park is named by police

Evha Jannath was on a school trip with Jameah Girls Academy.

THE SCHOOL GIRL who died following an incident at a UK theme park has been named as 11-year-old Evha Jannath.

The child died following an incident on a water ride at the Drayton Manor theme park yesterday.

The girl was recovered from the water and received advanced life support from ambulance crews before she was flown to Birmingham Children’s Hospital where she later passed away.

Police have confirmed that the 11-year-old was at the theme park as part of a school trip with the Jameah Girls Academy, an integrated Islamic day school.

The school released a statement saying that it is with “deepest sadness” that they announce the death of one of their Year 6 students. The school has been closed for today.

“As a school community, we are deeply shocked and our thoughts are with our pupil’s family and friends,” the school said.

The school will ensure specially trained staff are in school to provide our pupils and staff support at this difficult time. We would request that the family and the school community are given time to grieve.

Drayton Manor released a statement yesterday saying that those employed at the park were “shocked and devastated” about what had happened.

The park is also closed for today.

A Health and Safety Executive investigation into the incident has been launched and is being supported by Staffordshire Police.
