Four arrested after 3-year-old is shot with air rifle

The toddler was playing in a park with her family when the incident happened.

POLICE IN LONDON are investigating an incident where a three-year-old girl was shot by an air rifle yesterday.

Four arrests have been made to date.

This morning, a 16-year-old boy presented himself to a west London police station and was arrested.

Two male teenagers, aged 13 and 14, and a 23-year-old man were also arrested.

All four have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and are currently in custody at a west London police station.

The toddler was shot by an air rifle in Hanworth Park, Hounslow. No weapon has been recovered as of yet.

The the child was admitted to hospital with a wound to her abdomen after the incident.

Playing with family

The Metropolitan Police said she was playing in the park with her family when she was shot. She had been running from her mother to her grandfather when they heard a loud noise which sounded like an air rifle shot. About 30 seconds later the girl started to cry.

The incident happened sometime between 6 and 6.15pm yesterday..

The girl was treated for a penetrating wound caused by an air weapon and underwent surgery to remove the pellet. She has since been discharged.

Police have appealed to anyone with information to come forward.
