Thurles assault victim loses fight for life

James Tynan was pronounced dead in hospital last night.

A YOUNG KILKENNY man has died following an assault in county Tipperary in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Twenty-five-year-old James Tynan was left in a critical condition after the attack at Liberty Square in Thurles at about 1.30am on Sunday.

He suffered serious head injuries and lost his fight for life at South Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel on Monday.

A 22-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident. He has since been released and a file prepared for the DPP.
