Tia Sharp investigation: Police arrest Stuart Hazell on suspicion of murder

London Metropolitan Police have arrested the 37-year-old partner of the missing girl’s grandmother on suspicion of murder.

POLICE IN LONDON have arrested 37-year-old Stuart Hazell on suspicion of murder in connection with the investigation into the disappearance of Tia Sharp, 12.

Police searching for the girl, who was reported missing last Friday, discovered a body at the house of her grandmother Christine Jones’, in the New Addington area of south-east London, earlier today. It was Tia’s last confirmed location.

Authorities have not yet formally identified the body but have confirmed Tia’s family have been informed.

Hazell, the partner of the girl’s grandmother, was questioned and released by police yesterday. He is now in police custody and a murder investigation has been launched, reports the BBC.

It is reported that the 12-year-old regularly visited the house and spent Thursday night alone there with Hazell while her grandmother was at work.

A major manhunt had been carried out around the New Addington area of London after the 12-year-old went missing last Friday afternoon. Hazell was the last person to report seeing Tia alive and said that she had gone to a nearby shop to buy a pair of flip flops.
