Teenage driver arrested over tipper truck crash that killed 4-year-old girl

A second man has also been detained on suspicion of “manslaughter by gross negligence”.

POLICE IN THE UK have arrested two men in connection with the tipper truck crash that killed four people, including a four-year-old toddler, in Bath last week.

The lorry overturned on top of a Volvo at the bottom of a hill on Monday of last week.

Bath confirmed in a statement last week that a Scania tipper truck “was in collision with two pedestrians and several vehicles in Landsown Lane, Bath, just after 4pm”.

The young girl was walking with her grandmother when it happened. Her grandmother remains critically ill in hospital this morning.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary confirmed they had arrested two men this morning in connection with the crash.

“A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and manslaughter by gross negligence,” the force confirmed.

“A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing manslaughter by gross negligence.

“Their arrests follow the deaths of four-year-old Mitzi Steady from Bath, Robert Parker aged 59 from Cwmbran, Phillip Allan aged 52 from Swansea and Stephen Vaughan aged 34 from Swansea.”
