Commuting liveblog: Black ice and breakdowns - here's how the morning commute is looking

Here’s all the traffic, transport and weather news you need this morning.

HELLO AND WELCOME to TheJournal.ie‘s commuting liveblog.

We’ll be with you until 9am, bringing you all the latest traffic, transport and weather news this morning.

First we’ll take a look at the weather. Frost, fog and ice will clear this morning and it will become dry and bright later today.

The are frosty conditions across the midlands this morning, particularly around Navan, Naas, Carlow and Kilkenny.

AA Roadwatch is reporting that black ice is possible on roads around Portlaoise.

Motorists are being warned to slow down and leave plenty of time.

In Wicklow, traffic is slow northbound on the N11 Wexford/Dublin Rd from J11 Greystones past J10 Drummin.

In Cork, there has been a crash westbound on the N25 Waterford/ Cork Road after the Cobh turn-off. It’s causing delays on approach.

In Dublin, inbound traffic on the Lucan Road is very busy from J3 Lucan through the M50 interchange and on towards Palmerstown.

We’re hearing of two separate breakdowns in Dublin.

A vehicle has broken down on the M1 southbound before J2 at Dublin Airport and is partially blocking the right lane.

There has also been a breakdown on St Johns Road in the lane to turn right at Kilmainham.

In Kildare, it’s busy on the M7 Limerick/ Dublin northbound passing J10 Naas South.

A crash has been reported at the junction of Kill Lane and Abbey Road at Baker’s Corner.

A third breakdown has been reported in Dublin this morning, this time it’s inbound on the N4 Lucan Road.

AA Roadwatch is reporting that it’s busy inbound on the Swords road from Whitehall Church to the Dorset St/Gardiner St Junction.

Here’s how Drumcondra Road is looking this morning:

Traffic is very heavy in some areas of Dublin city this morning. Getting from Phoenix park onto Parkgate street is taking up to 20 minutes and Live Drive says it will then take another 15 minutes to get to Wolfe Tone Quay.

Traffic on Stillorgan Road is also heavy inbound in parts from Kilmacud Road Lower through to Nutley Lane and approaching Donnybrook.

In Cork, the crash on the N25 has now been cleared but delays remain.

In Galway, traffic lights are out of action at the Fairhill Rd/ Father Griffin Rd jct.

Motorists are being advised to take extra care in the area.

In Antrim, the PSNI have just advised motorists that Station Road in Greenisland is now reopened.

It was closed yesterday morning after the body of an elderly man was found in a house on the road. One women and two men were arrested as part of the investigation.

We’re still hearing reports of very heavy traffic on the N11 from UCD right through to Donnybrook.

Meanwhile, the broken down van has been removed from Con Colbert Road in the right turn lane for Kilmainham.
