Traffic diversions in place after major Terenure house fire

A fire in the Cremorne estate off Terenure Road East causes major damage to a number of houses; bus services diverted

Updated, 17.28

SIGNIFICANT TRAFFIC DIVERSIONS are in place due to a major ongoing house fire in Terenure in South Dublin.

The fire, which is continuing in the Cremorne housing estate off Terenure Road East, is thought to have caused significant damage to a number of houses.

Five fire engines are at the scene, as is a water tanker.

Traffic diversions are in place, with serious delays in the vicinity of Terenure Village as a result of the fire.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, and Gardaí near the scene are also diverting pedestrians away from nearby areas.

A number of Dublin Bus services are also being diverted as a result of temporary road closures; they include the 15, 15a, 15b, 65, 65b and the 74 (though not the 74a).

Instead of travelling down Terenure Road East as usual, those buses are taking an amended route serving Rathgar, Orwell Road, Zion Road, Bushy Park, Rathfarnham Road, Terenure Cross and Templeogue Road.

It is not known yet where there are any injuries as a result of the blaze.
