Body of young man recovered from blowhole in Belmullet

The tragic incident was reported at 12.30pm today.

EMERGENCY SERVICES HAVE recovered the body of a young man in his early 20s from a blowhole monument in Belmullet, Co Mayo.

The incident was reported at approximately 12.30pm today. The young man is believed to have been a local.

The 65-ft blowhole is located at Dun na mBó, near Eagle Island in Co Mayo.

An Garda Síochána, Achill Island Coast Guard, the Coast Guard and RNLI were all involved in the rescue operation.
