M1 re-opens to traffic in both directions after truck fire

The burnt-out truck has been removed from the roadside.

A TRUCK FIRE on the M1 near the border in Co Louth caused major traffic disruption heading south towards Dublin this morning.

It happened in the hard shoulder on the southbound side of the motorway after the Centre Point Business Park before junction 20 for Jonesborough.

Diversions earlier directed motorists onto the Old Dublin Rd through Ravensdale Park and back on M1 at junction 19.

It was confirmed later this afternoon that the road had re-opened in both directions, after the truck was removed.
