Elderly man dies after car collides with bin truck in Tullamore

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

A MAN HAS died in a road crash in Tullamore in county Offaly.

The man in his 80s was seriously injured when his car collided with a bin lorry and then crashed into a wall. The incident occurred yesterday morning at 10am on the Charleville Road.

The driver was the sole occupant of the car and was taken to Tullamore General Hospital where he died of his injuries last night. The driver of the lorry was not injured.

The road was closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination and has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information to contact them at Tullamore garda station on 057 9327600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
