Two arrested after man found dead at apartment in Waterford

The body of a man was discovered in an apartment in the city last night, gardaí say.

TWO PEOPLE HAVE been arrested following the discovery of the body of a man in Waterford city last night.

The body of the man in his 60s was found at an apartment in the city last night just before 11pm. Gardaí say it is not yet known how the man died and the body remains at the scene pending the arrival of the State Pathologist.

A man, 47, and a woman, 39, have been arrested for questioning and are currently detained at Waterford Garda Station under Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The body was found at Scotch Marsh House apartment complex on William Street in the Scotch Quay area of the city.

RTÉ’s Damien Tiernan reported this morning that the its believed the man had been living in the city for a number of years and had been hosting a party at the apartment.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing for anybody who may have seen anything suspicious or who may have information in relation to the incident to contact then at Waterford Garda station on 051 305 300, the Garda Confidential line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
