Two arrested over 2009 murder of Liam Murray

Two men are arrested over the murder of Liam Murray, who was shot dead at his home in Rathfarnham in 2009.

GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED two men over the murder of a Dublin man who was shot dead at home in Rathfarnham over two years ago.

Liam Murray had been out socialising in the afternoon of St Patrick’s Day 2009, and was last seen driving home through Tenenure before arriving home at Rathfarnham at around 7:30pm that night.

He was not seen again until his body was discovered on the morning of March 20, when he was found dead with bullet wounds to his head and chest.

This morning Gardaí in Terenure arrested two men in connection with the murder.

One of the men, aged 49, is being detained at Terenure under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act as amended.

The other, aged 47, is being detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act 1939 at Rathmines station.

Anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Rockbrook Cottages in the days up to and after St Patrick’s Day 2009 is asked to contact the incident room in Terenure on (01) 666 6400, or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
