Man faces attempted murder charge over Tyrone stabbings

One man was stabbed in the head and another several times in the body in two linked attacks yesterday. A 23-year-old has been charged.

A MAN HAS been charged with attempted murder in connection with two stab attacks in Cookstown, Co Tyrone in the early hours of yesterday morning.

One victim was stabbed in the head and another several times in the body, and police believe the two attacks are linked.

The first incident took place in the William Street area at around 2.30am — the second  about an hour later in the Milburn Street/Moneymore Road area where the second man sustained multiple stab wounds to his body.

Both victims were aged in their 20s. They were treated in hospital for their injuries.

The 23-year-old man charged by detectives is due to appear in court in Enniskillen tomorow.

Seven other men who were arrested in connection with the incidents have been released on bail.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who witnessed either incident to contact the PSNI in Cookstown on 0845 600 8000 or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
