A former UFC star is helping to create 90 new jobs

Cathal Pendred is a franchisee with Chopped.

HEALTHY FOOD RESTAURANT Chopped is set to expand its franchising operation, creating 90 new jobs.

The jobs will come as the company opens six new outlets across Dublin.

They will join existing, wholly owned Chopped outlets in Baggot St, Dublin city centre; Ballsbridge, Dublin 4 and a third outlet in Fairview.

Among the franchisees is recently retired UFC fighter Cathal Pendred. Pendred is set to open his franchise in Dublin city centre in early 2016.

Brian Lee, co-founder and managing director of Chopped says that the growth of the company has been “phenomenal”.

“The speed at which Chopped has grown though has been phenomenal.

“We knew Ireland wanted a healthier option and the fact that so many people approached us looking to franchise Chopped’s really confirmed this.”

Opening a store costs around €150,000 in total, which includes working capital and franchise fees. Last month, the company invested €250,000 in a new production facility in Artane that will service the new franchises.

The stores will open in North County Dublin, South County Dublin and Dublin City Centre in early 2016.
