Man stabs himself after ploughing van into busy Christmas market

At least ten people have been injured, two seriously.

AT LEAST TEN have been injured, two seriously, after the driver of a van ploughed into a Christmas market in the western French city of Nantes before stabbing himself, a source close to the investigation said.

The source said the driver was seriously injured.

The incident comes a day after a man shouting “Allahu Akbar” (“God is greatest” in Arabic) ran his car into pedestrians in another French city, injuring 13.

A report in local newspaper Ouest France suggests the van driver in this latest incident also shouted ”Allahu Akbar” as he crashed his vehicle.

The paper reports that 12 people were injured.
