Poll: Would you watch Coveney and Varadkar going toe-to-toe in a live debate?

TV3 today expressed itself as being ‘very interested’ in broadcasting such a debate, which would be the first of its kind on Irish TV.

TODAY, TV3 ANNOUNCED itself as being ‘very interested’ in broadcasting a Fine Gael leadership debate between rivals for the crown Leo Varadkar and Simon Coveney.

A recent poll indicated that the two are very much the frontrunners for the role, with Varadkar (29%) edging things marginally at present over Coveney (27%), with Education Minister Richard Bruton a distant third on 10%.

Such a televised debate would see Irish politics enter uncharted waters – while general election and presidential debates are commonplace, a party leadership contest has never been treated in such a manner.

But would you tune in?

We’re asking: Would you watch Simon Coveney and Leo Varadkar going toe-to-toe in a live debate?

Poll Results:

No (6069)
Yes (4269)
I'm not sure (336)
