Take a VR tour of the Stoneybatter home that played a part in Spice Girls history

Scary, Ginger, Posh, Baby and Sporty made a stop on Carnew Street back in 1998.

AS ONE OF the longest inhabited regions of Ireland’s capital, the Dublin 7 district of Stoneybatter has hundreds of years of history and character winding through its cobbled streets. A new-to-the-market property on Carnew Street holds a piece of that history, and you don’t even need to go too far back in time to find it.

In 1998, long before brunch spots and independently owned artisan coffee shops began popping up on Stoneybatter’s corners, Carnew Street played host to five very well-known females: Sporty, Ginger, Scary, Baby and Posh.

Irish fans of the Spice Girls will recall that the group filmed the video for Stop on the street, closing off a large part of Stoneybatter for the day to get the right shots. Now, two decades on, 15 Carnew Street is up for sale, with a starting price of €425,000.

The original brick facade remains, but No. 15′s interior has been extensively renovated and modernised, with plenty of contemporary design features.

Downstairs, the bright entrance hall leads into a large open plan oak-floored living room and dining room, with access to an external plant-filled courtyard area. The fully fitted Kube kitchen features polished porcelain tiles, a double-drainer sink and skylight windows for added natural light.

The main family bathroom is also on ground level, with two double bedrooms and an additional WC upstairs. Both bedrooms include feature fireplaces, recessed lighting and engineered oak flooring.

Stoneybatter is just a ten-minute walk from the centre of Dublin city and has plenty of public transport links, which will only be improved by December 2017′s Luas extension. Local amenities include shops, cafés, bars, a newly-opened Lidl supermarket in Cabra and much more.

15 Carnew St, Stoneybatter, Dublin 7 is on sale for €425,000 with DNG via Daft.ie. Viewing is by appointment.
