Large-scale factory blaze put out after all-night firefight

The cause of the fire has not yet been established.

A MAJOR FIRE in Waterford was extinguished in the early hours of the morning after emergency services were called to the scene.

Firefighters were alerted to the blaze in a derelict plastic factory at 7:46pm last night.

The fire was eventually put out at 5am this morning.

The factory, which has been empty for a number of years, is in the Bilberry area of Waterford city.

Niall Curtin, the chief fire officer at Waterford City and County Council, told TheJournal.ie that no injuries were reported.

He said the cause of the fire has not yet been established.
