Man taken to hospital after fire in Waterford hotel room

Firefighters are at the scene but the fire has now been extinguished.

A MAN HAS been taken to hospital after a fire at a hotel in Waterford.

The fire is understood to have started at the Waterford Marina Hotel on Canada Street at around 7am this morning. It was located in one of the bedrooms of the hotel.

Two crews from Waterford Fire Station attended the scene. The hotel had been evacuated  by staff and on searching the building, firefighters located one casualty in a bedroom of the hotel.

The man was removed from the room and taken to University Hospital Waterford by ambulance.
