Wee-resistant wall paint is causing a splash in Hamburg

The paint directs the spray back from whence it came.

IG St. Pauli / YouTube

RESIDENTS OF HAMBURG’S party district St Pauli are so fed up with people peeing in the streets that they’ve decided to take drastic action.

They’ve coated the busiest walls with a pee-resistant paint that directs the spray back from whence it came.

They’ve also placed warning signs around the city bearing the slogan ‘We pee back’.

Harsh but fair. What do you think, is it ok to take a quick slash in a street corner at night?

This is similar to the documentary in January. A time when people had to FaceTime their dying relatives because they weren’t allowed in to see them in their last hours but yet an RTÉ film crew could stroll around St James hospital to film those same people in their beds.

It stank then, it stinks now.

@JedBartlett: Jed, if there was an option to ‘Like’ your comment 1000+ times I would be readily pressing it right now.

@JedBartlett: It is possibly worse than that as the partner is also the father of the child. Not a competition between the two scenarios both are terrible but you would imagine given many fathers have equal rights when it comes to their kids that would include being there during the perinatal situation.

My favourite bit is the Rotunda statement saying they want to share the important stories of petiants. They posted the statement on twitter and turned off responses, meaning people couldn’t share their negative stories and voice their opposition. They also pretend it’s about their concern for patients, but fail to mention the money being made by choosing to go ahead with filming. Women being used to make reality tv while the reality of the restrictions isn’t shared at all.

My favourite bit was newstalk pressing them for further comment to clarify how they define minimum when it comes to how many were in the film crew. All they said was they were making no further comment. That says it all.

@Adrian O’Donnell: wow. That does say it all. Clearly there was either plenty of them or they don’t know how many there were so there was no oversight.

They laugh their little heads off at us and then tell us we need to pay them more in licence fees.

Not a fair comparison in my opinion. The film crew was probably 2 or 3 people. Partners would have probably amounted to hundreds of people. Very big difference in risk.

@Thomas O’ Donnell: not a fair comparison indeed, reality tv vs the birth of your child. If its not safe for partners to be there, its not safe for a film crew to be there. Be it 1 or 100.

@Thomas O’ Donnell: one partner missing not jst a birth, but even more so a fatal outcome where the Mother is alone, is one too many. From the start there was ways around access to partners/fathers being granted and it was not to be heard of. U cud of put my husband is a hazmat suit if it gave him access to us for the birth/visits. But then again its Ireland. When are pregnant/birthing women ever treated like 1st class citizens… and Im the 1st to admit the feminist talk of late can be a bit unwarranted/over exaggerated but better maternity care should of been given and it was denied. Not on the staff, they done amazing, but the decision makers. One camera man or 20, it was still an “unnecessary” person on the premises, much like they considered Partners/Fathers to be.
