That was quick: Ireland's cold snap passes with mild weather likely for the rest of the week

Met Éireann has lifted their snow and ice warnings.

IT SEEMS LIKE the cold snap that has frozen parts of Ireland for the last few days won’t be lasting too much longer.

While snow and ice warnings were in place on Thursday and Friday, no such warnings are now in place.

Met Éireann is now saying that while some parts of the country will remain “chilly” today, afternoon temperatures will be between 6 to 9 celsius.

Conditions will get colder tonight but will stay above freezing, ranging between 3 to 6 celsius in most places and 1 to 2 degrees in eastern and southern areas. Patchy frost is to be expected in some areas.

After tonight, however, things will begin to get considerably warmer with temperatures tomorrow at the considerably milder 9 to 11 degrees. Sunday night will reach lows of between 4 to 7 degrees.

In terms of rain, the north and west are most likely to see some patchy spells tonight.

Tomorrow will be rather cloudy in most places with rain or drizzle in the morning mainly over the northern half of the country.

Monday and the rest of next week are also expected to remain mild with some night frosts and also some fog.
