Gardaí issue warning as heavy rain and hail are forecast

Met Éireann says tonight will be cold.

GARDAÍ ARE URGING motorists to be extra cautious this evening because of heavy rain and hail showers that are being predicted for parts of the country.

Met Éireann says that tonight will be cold with temperatures of between -1 to +2 degrees celsius and widespread frost.

Although it’s predicted to be mostly dry, heavy rain and hail shows are to be expected, particularly along the Atlantic coastline.

The potentially treacherous conditions have led to gardaí issuing a warning to motorists to be particularly careful of slippery roads.

Motorists driving behind trucks or buses are being urged to be aware of the potential for spray to block their view.

Met Éireann is also warning of mist and fog patches with gardaí saying that pedestrians should wear reflective clothing if visibility is poor.
