Weather to cool after the weekend

We’ve had amazing weather this week, with temperatures reaching into the early 20s in some parts of the country. Sadly, it won’t last into next week – but don’t worry, we have a sunny slideshow to cheer you up.

WE’VE ALL BEEN getting rather used to the good weather this week: the shorts have been pulled out of the wardrobe, the sun factor has been stocked up on, and al fresco dinners have been enjoyed arund the country.

But it might be time to start adjusting to the fact that the warm weather won’t last forever – or past the weekend.

According to Met Eireann, temperatures will gradually lower over the next few days, so by this day next week, the sunny weather will be long gone.

Luckily, we will have highest temperatures of 15 – 19 degrees today, with it being warmest in the south of the country, and coolest in the northwest. Tonight, temperatures will drop to 2 – 6 degrees, before warming up to 11 – 15 degrees in Connacht and Ulster tomorrow during a dry day, and 15 – 18 in lucky Leinster and Munster.

However, Met Eireann notes that there might be some showers over Leinster and Ulster this weekend, plus cloud, so highest temperatures will reach to between 11 – 15 degrees. On Sunday, the weather will be similar, and by Monday the temperature will have dropped to between 7 – 10 degrees at its highest point.

By Tuesday and Wednesday, it will be colder and some scattered showers are to be expected too.

Our advice? Make the most of the great weather while you can – not forgetting that all-important sun protection cream! – before temps cool.

If you’re feeling a bit blue about the upcoming cooler weather, why not take a look at this slideshow of images from the past few sunny and warm days.

Aaaah, that’s better.
