Wetherspoon's says it will retain stained-glass window in Camden Street pub and hotel

A spokesperson for the British chain told TheJournal.ie that the window forms part of the plan for the pub and hotel.

PUB CHAIN WETHERSPOON’S says it will retain a 19th century stained-glass window in the pub and hotel it plans to open on Dublin’s Camden Street.

The discount pub chain plans to open the business in a disused site opposite the Camden Court Hotel.

The site contains a window designed by Thomas and John Earley dating from the 1850s. Dublin City Council this week agreed to write to company and urge them to preserve the window.

A spokesperson for the British chain told TheJournal.ie that the window forms part of the plan for the pub and hotel.

“If we could start work tomorrow, we would, but we still have a lot of work to do.

“After that, it’s around 12-months work.”

The spokesperson added that the site, its first hotel in Ireland, had no firm schedule for opening, but it would likely be the first half of 2018 at the earliest.
