Poll: What do you consider binge drinking?

Some say the definition is part of the problem.

A NEW CAMPAIGN launched yesterday called for a end to Ireland’s “out of control” drinking, with a large focus on binge drinking.

However, whenever a study makes a finding about binge drinking, many say that the definition is too harsh.

The generally accepted binge-drinking definition is eight units of alcohol for men and six for women in on sitting. That equates to four pints for men and three for women.

This would be around two and a half glasses of wine for men and two for women.

Is that fair? Would you consider a night where you had three or four pints to be a binge?

We’re asking: What do you consider binge drinking?

Poll Results:

6-8 pints (3447)
8-10 pints (2703)
More than 10 pints (2324)
4-6 pints (1755)
3-4 pints (534)
I don't know (245)
