Here are the heartwarming and surprising things that make you all happy

Children, dogs, Lego, ironing… check out the diverse results.

YESTERDAY, IN ANTICIPATION of a fair amount of Budget doom and gloom, we asked readers of DailyEdge.ie and TheJournal.ie what makes them happy.

We’ve gathered up your responses, and they range from the simple, to the heartwarming, to the surprising, to the bold as brass!

For some people it’s their children that make them happy…

John Buckley says:

As a baker.. Hand making bread and getting to sit down and have it with some soup while relaxing in front of my baby girl minding her.

Cathy Murray:

Being a mother a child with special needs, little moments that would be little or not noticed much in others’ lives would be a huge thing if my son gets them done.Being proud to be a mother of my son and daughter makes me happy… but scared about what sort of country they to face growing up.

Joan Featherstone:

When my big son comes home from working in UK and we can be a family again, if only for a short while till he heads off again.
I know I’m lucky in that many people have lost their young children for various reasons, Skype is great but I do miss the human contact. I’m a sad old wan.

For some, it’s their ‘other’ children

Mick Kavanagh:

My dog Wilson running to the car and jumping on my lap when I get home from work. :)

Liam Ó Broin:

Having our two dogs come to greet me when I come to the front door. Never gets old.

Jane Travers:

I have three of them! There’s nothing like the greeting :)

Fiona Greene (via email):

I’m a huge fan of The Killers and spent the night drinking with one of my idols – Dave Keuning (The Killers’ guitarist) and a group of my good friends in a pub in London a few days before their sold-out Wembley Stadium gig back in June. He obviously still doesn’t realise just how big they are as he asked us; “Have you guys heard of ‘Hot Fuss’?” Both that question and the picture that I have attached of the both of us having the craic that night make me so unbelievably happy! :)

Some much-needed relief

Dalai Obama:

Being pain free (almost) was great all last week, been in bed now since Saturday afternoon. It’s been like this for almost 3 years, chronic pain and depression are things i hope people who don’t suffer from them never have to face.

An excellent movie

A myriad of things

And, er, ironing?

Mary Jones replied:

Ironing, really? You can come round my house! There’s hours of entertainment here if that’s the case! And we’ll both be smiling all night long ;)

Ann Reddin wasn’t far behind:

And when you’re done in Marys you can come around to mine. I’ll invite your kids and make you a big pot of tea with a big huge smile on my face. I also have a lovely polka dot coat (only worn once) that you can have :)

Any more for any more? Let us know what makes you happy…
