23-year-old dies after car hits a wall

A man in his early 20s has been arrested in connection with the crash.

A 23-YEAR-OLD man was killed this morning when the car he was a passenger in struck a wall in Wicklow.

Gardaí are investigating the crash, which occurred at Croneyhorn on the R725 between Shillelagh and Carnew, County Wicklow, at around 4am this morning.

A man aged 23, suffered fatal injuries when the car he was travelling in as a passenger collided with a wall. He was pronounced dead at the scene and a post mortem is to be arranged.

A man in his early 20s has been arrested in connection with the investigation and is currently detained at Gorey Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The R725 remains closed at Croneyhorn to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, anyone with information or who may have travelled the R725 at Croneyhorn between 3am–4am this morning to contact them at Baltinglass Garda Station on 059 6482610, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
