Wicklow blast damages vehicles in residential area

The scene was declared safe at 7am.

A RESIDENTIAL AREA in Wicklow has been declared safe after an improvised explosive device detonated there early this morning.

Two vehicles were damaged in the blast, which happened in Dunlavin, a small village around 50 kilometers south-west of Dublin.

The bomb disposal unit arrived in the area at 5.50am and the scene was deemed safe at 7am.

The affected area has been cordoned off as gardaí conduct a technical investigation.
