The six-bedroom home is just a 40-minute drive from Dublin city.

BUILDING ON CASTLEFIELD House only began in 2005, but you’d be forgiven for thinking the six-bedroom mansion was a country pile dating back hundreds of years.

When owner Michael Noble, a native of Delgany, bought the site with his wife Astra, they had originally intended to extend onto the property that was already there. In the end, they chose to build again from scratch.

An extreme decision, but one that has resulted in a remarkable mix of period-style design and an almost endless list of contemporary features.

The sprawling property, designed by architect Colum ÓBróin and styled by Patricia FitzPatrick, features a home cinema and bar room, a bespoke 4,200-crystal chandelier, a gym and snooker room, two separate kitchens, a lift and a sauna.

Downstairs, an entrance hall leads to the main drawing and dining rooms, plus a fully-fitted commercial-style kitchen designed for catering to groups.

The right wing of the house is dedicated to entertainment: there’s the aforementioned cinema and bar room (fully sound-proofed with tiered seating), a powder room and a study.

Over in the left wing, there’s ample room for family living, including a TV room, a tri-aspect kitchen/dining area opening onto a courtyard, and a large utility room.

Upstairs, all six bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. Four of those have walk-in wardrobes, while the master bedroom features its own steam room and dressing room.

The house takes in 8,100 sq ft, but the site includes a two-bedroom gate lodge, a wooden-framed summer house, a garage with space for four cars and expansive landscaped gardens.

Delgany village features a small number of local amenities and is right on the doorstep of Greystones with its wide range of schools, restaurants, sports clubs, bars, shops and public transport links.
