Kildare councillor seriously injured in hit-and-run

Willie Crowley was stuck by a car at 8.30pm this evening.

A KILDARE COUNCILLOR has been seriously injured in a hit-and-run in Newbridge town this evening.

Willie Crowley was struck by a car at 8.30pm at the junction of John’s Street and James Street. The 65 year old independent councillor was seriously injured and was taken to Naas General Hospital.

The car in question failed to remain at the scene and drove in the direction of Canning Place.

Gardaí in Newbridge are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have been on the road around that time to contact them on 045 431212, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
