Witnesses sought over armed attack on Naas security van

Staff at a Securicor van at a petrol station were threatened, and a sum of money removed.

GARDAÍ IN CO KILDARE have issued an appeal for witnesses to an armed robbery at a petrol station in Naas this morning.

A man wielding what appeared to be a firearm threatened staff in a Securicor van at the Applegreen service station on the Newbridge road at around 8:40am this morning.

The staff were threatened and the man escaped with an undisclosed sum of money in a silver van, which was later recovered near Ploopluck Bridge.

It is thought that the man may have then moved to the motorway to escape.

Witnesses can contact Naas Garda Station at 045 897333, the Garda confidential line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
