Woman arrested over death of Anthony Ward

The woman in her 40s was arrested today by Gardaí investigating the death of the eight-year-old boy.

A WOMAN HAS been arrested in connection with the death of 8-year-old Anthony Ward in Charleville, Cork yesterday.

The woman in her 40s has been detained by Gardaí at Mallow station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

She can be held for up to 24 hours.

Earlier today, preliminary post mortem results indicated that Anthony, who was due to start school yesterday, died from asphyxia.
