Woman (61) dies after four-car collision

The collision occurred yesterday evening.

A WOMAN IN her sixties has died following a four-car collision yesterday evening.

Gardaí in Baltinglass, Co Wicklow are investigating the fatal incident.

Four vehicles were involved in the collision, which occurred at approximately 6.10pm at Knockloe on the Tullow to Shilleagh road (R725) yesterday.

The woman (61) was a passenger in one car and was seriously injured. She was pronounced dead at the scene and removed to Waterford Regional Hospital for a post-mortem.

The male driver (71) of this car was also injured and taken to St Luke’s hospital for treatment.

The male driver (45) of a second car was also was taken to St Luke’s hospital for treatment.

The drivers – a man aged 29 and a woman aged 28 – of the other two cars were uninjured. They were the sole occupants of their cars.

The road was temporarily closed for a forensic collision examination.

Witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Baltinglass Garda station on 059 6482610, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
