Woman in her 70s dies after car crashes into ditch

Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to come forward after the crash in Donegal last night.

A WOMAN IN her 70s has died after the car she was driving crashed into a ditch in Donegal last night.

The woman, who has not been named, was driving in Cloghore, Ballyshannon, when the crash happened at approximately 10.20pm. The woman was the sole occupant of the car.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body has been removed to Sligo General Hospital.

The road between Ballyshannon and Belleek Road is closed this morning for an examination by forensic investigators.

Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to the crash to contact them at Ballyshannon Garda Station on 071 9858530 or the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800 666 111.
